This baby tawny owl sculpture is made with handprinted feathers in coppery brown, pale gold and grey tones. His whole body is covered in hand cut paper feathers. His face is pale gold and he has a darker fold and white striped belly. He sits on a branch adorned with pale green tree blossom, which have yellow middles. There are also various leafy green stems dotted about the wreath.
This piece measures 20 cm (8 inches) tall and wide. The owl is 9 cm (3.5 inches) tall.

I design these sculptures with a ruler and protractor, cutting out and gluing each piece by hand. The paper is hand printed. I draw patterns with a paintbrush and other tools onto a blank silkscreen, so the markings and textures are individual to each piece and cannot be replicated. My sculptures are varnished with a UV protective lacquer, to ensure their colours remain vibrant. Metallic lustres are also added to the paint, which gives a little shimmer and brings depth to their colour palette.
