Squirrels are one of Kate's favourite animals, having spent many hours in local parks watching them scurry up trees and dance among the fallen leaves. She loves the way their tails move like a wave and aimed to capture this movement in her sculptures.

Each squirrel is individually hand printed in rusty oranges and slate grey onto 300 gsm watercolour paper. Pieces are hand cut and glued together. The squirrel body and head is a particularly fiddly process! Black diamante eyes are add once their body is complete.

Sculptures are varnished with a satin lacquer, which gives them a slight sheen and seals their edges. They are easy to care for with an occasional tickle from a feather duster.

Kate prefers to add these creatures to floral hoops, but simpler arrangements are also available, such as floral branches, or twigs adorned with golden acorns.
