This African Grass Owl paper sculpture is similar to a barn owl, except he has silvery grey markings on his back, and a cream spotted belly. His love heart shaped face is framed with silvery grey hand cut feathers. He perches on a wreath festooned with purple hydrangea in various shades between baby pink and lilac, to deeper purples and mulberry. Many of them have a mottled texture, mixing several shades. I hope he will bring cheer to the home of nature lovers, bird watchers, or fans of the natural world.
Suspended on invisible fishing line, with a hook to hang on a nail or pin.
About 55 cm (22 inches) tall and wide, 12 cm (5 inches) deep.
He is one of a kind, made with 300 gsm recycled papers, which I have handprinted to give him some lovely textures. The metallic lustres I added give his grey feathers a shimmery silver quality. He is varnished with a UV protective lacquer, which seals his edges and gives him a lovely sheen. He’s very easy to care for - a tickle with a feather duster every now and then is all he needs.
