This goldfinch paper sculpture is made with handprinted papers. He has a red face, framed in white and black, a golden back, yellow and black wings with white details, and a white belly.
He is perched on a wreath adorned with white tree blossom, which have a gentle pale yellow middle, to compliment his yellow wing feathers.
The handmade wreath measures 24 cm (9.5 inches) tall and 21 cm (8 inches) wide. The goldfinch sculpture is 13 cm (5 inches) from tail to beak.
Varnished with a UV protective lacquer. All he needs is a tickle with a feather duster every now and then.
I absolutely love goldfinches. In the olden days they were called Proud Tailor, because of their beautiful and intricate plumage. We have some that like to play in out laburnum tree. My rescue parrot, Sam, likes to sing at them from the window.
