Perhaps one of the most famous Lovebirds, Fischer's lovebird is a vibrant gren, with a bright yellow belly and neck and orange crown and cheeks. His beak is a jolly cherry red.
He measures about 20 cm from tail to beak.
Lovebirds get their name because they spend much of their time huddled together with their partner. And when they have a chick, both parent will affectionately squish their baby between them perched on a branch. Like most parrots, lovebirds mate for life and remain affectionate and devoted partners. I have rescue senegals, one of whom has chosen me as his beloved, and I can attest that parrots grow very attuned to their favourite person! The only thing that might mean more to him than my attention is perhaps the mighty pecan nut.
