Mexican Violetear Hummingbird

£105.00

This Mexican Violetear hummingbird sculpture is mostly green, with a teal belly and violet purple ear patches. He has faceted black eyes and a dark grey beak and feet. His hand cut paper feathers are varnished with a shimmery iridescent lacquer, which is also UV protective, so his colours will never fade. He’ll be just as happy hanging in the window as he would be on the wall.

He perches on a wreath of yellow hydrangea blooms. This paper sculpture is one of a kind.

He hangs from the wall via a hand formed hook, which is suspended from invisible fishing line (with a drop of about 30cm). He will hang on a hook or nail tack on the wall.

Measurements: 26 cm (10 inches) tall and 23 cm (9 inches) wide.

Free UK delivery.

My sculptures arrive boxed, with a paper ribbon bow.

Hummingbirds are fascinating creatures. They are the smallest migrating bird, and tend to travel alone, on journeys up to 500 miles. They are the only birds that can fly backwards, and they prefer orange or red flowers. A flock of hummingbirds is called a bouquet, shimmer, or a tune. What adorable collective nouns!
