Crested Tit in a lavender Hydrangea Wreath

£95.00

This crested tit has a black and white crest, golden buff back, white belly and a black and white face. He is one of a kind, made with handprinted papers. I’ve added some metallic lustres when colouring the papers, so his feathers have a soft gentle sheen on his back and wings.

He perches on a wreath of lavender hydrangea blooms. Most of the blooms are in a cluster and they are varied shades of pale purples and blues.

This piece measures 24 cm (9.5 inches) tall and 21 cm (8 inches) wide. The crested tit is 10 cm (4 inches) from tail to beak.

Hangs on the wall via a steel hook, suspended on invisible fishing line.

Other birds and flowers/colours can be made for you, so do get in touch if you would like something in particular.

Crested tits are the only crested songbird found in Northern Europe. Scotland is their favourite place in the UK, where large populations of them thrive. They do not like to travel outside of forest areas, which is why they do not frequently make it down to the rest of the UK. They are particularly fond of old pine forests. Females only lay one or two eggs at a time, which are 1.6cm tall- how tiny is that?!

Hydrangeas are thought to symbolise gratitude, grace and beauty. Purple in particular represents understanding.
