Robin on a wreath of green hydrangea
This robin red breast is handmade from hand cut paper feathers in white, rusty brown and a warm orange red. He measures 12.5 cm from beak to tip (5 inches).
He rests on a wreath adorned with green hydrangea blooms. I’ve used gold lustre with a pale green on the flowers to give the paper a lovely texture, which has a very gentle shimmer.
The whole piece measures 26 cm (10 inches) wide and 29 cm (11.5 inches) tall.
This original wall art hangs from the wall via invisible fishing line from the top of the wreath (at a length of 30 cm), with a metal hook to hang on a nail or tack on the wall.
Varnished with a UV lacquer to protect its colours and seal its edges. All it needs is a tickle with a feather/microfibre duster every now and then.
Robins are the nation’s favourite bird and it’s so easy to tell why. My dad has one that follows him around as he tends his garden, hoping for him to upturn a worm from the soil. They are delightful creatures.
